Serie A Football Betting

Why place football bets on Serie A over the Internet? Depending on the bookmaker, you can bet on any sporting event, or indeed any other event, from as little as 1 euro. To begin betting, you only need to complete the free registration, put some money into your betting account and... you’re off! Nowadays, of course, modern data protection systems ensure that deposits and payments can be made rapidly and in complete security. Italian football is famous for combining solid defence with abundant attacking skill. Every footballer dreams of the opportunity to strut his stuff on the Serie A stage. The championship is home to some of the giants of European football such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and AS Roma and has a style and strength that is all of its own. Bookmakers offer a wealth of bets on football championships to satisfy punters’ requirements, among which are bets on the main Italian leagues; Serie A, Serie B and even Serie C.

Serie A runs from August to June and consists of 20 teams that play each other home and away. For each match the winning team is awarded three points and the loser none. A draw sees the teams awarded one point apiece. At the end of the season the team that finishes top wins the Scudetto, is declared Champion of Italy and goes directly into the Champions League together with the team that comes second. The teams that finish third and fourth in the championship go into the third preliminary round of the Champions League while those that finish fifth, sixth and seventh (if both finalists in the Coppa Italia are in the top six) go into the UEFA Cup. Finally, the eighth placed team has the opportunity to take part in the Intertoto Cup. The bottom three teams in the table are relegated to Serie B.

Widespread television coverage of Italian football matches enables many bookmakers to offer live bets and allows punters to place bets while following the match on television or over the Internet.

The official regulations and results and tables can be consulted in Italian on the official website of the Italian football league (Lega Calcio), where the latest news on fixture list changes and player transfers is also available.

Possible betting combinations

For bets on football, it is important to be aware that the final result that counts is the one after the end of both halves of the game, including any time added on.

1X2 Full Result
1: The home team wins
X: Draw
2: The away team wins

Double Chance
1X: Home win or draw.
12: Home win or away win.
X2: Away win or draw.

Half time/Full time result
This requires prediction of the 1X2 result at both half time and the final whistle.
Possible combinations are 1/1, 1/X, 1/2, X/1, X/X, X/2, 2/1, 2/X and 2/2. The symbol before the slash (/) corresponds to the result at half time while that after the slash corresponds to the final match result.

Exact result
This consists in predicting the correct score at the end of the match.

Under/Over 2.5
This consists in predicting whether the total number of goals scored during a match will be under, or equal to or over 3.

Total number of goals
This requires predicting the exact number of goals scored by the two teams combined.

Goal or No Goal
Goal: both teams score at least one goal.
No Goal: at least one of the two teams does not score.

1X2 Result with Handicap
This consists in predicting the 1X2 final result with a handicap given to the team that is favourite. The number of goals given as a handicap must be subtracted from the goals scored by the favourite team. Example of a 1 goal handicap:
1: Favourite team wins by 2 goals or more.
X: Favourite team wins by 1 goal or more.
2: Defeat of the favourite team or draw.

First scorer
This consists in predicting the scorer of the first goal of a match during normal time. As well as the list of footballers that is provided, which varies depending on the match, the following outcomes can also be selected:
1. No goals
2. Own goal
3. Other player
If a player who is on the list scores an own goal, the valid outcome is always own goal.
